Meet Kim!

Hi, I’m Kim Miller — former teacher, curriculum designer, and the creator behind A Love of Teaching!

For 20 years, I taught in the classroom and experienced all the highs and challenges that come with being an elementary teacher. I loved watching my students grow, witnessing those “lightbulb moments,” and helping them build confidence in their learning. I understand how exhausting lesson planning, grading, and classroom management can be, as well as how little time teachers often have left for themselves.

How It All Began

In 2012, I began creating resources that were not only engaging for students but also easy for teachers to use. What started as a few lessons shared with colleagues has grown into A Love of Teaching, a full-time business dedicated to helping upper elementary teachers save time while keeping learning meaningful and fun. My resources are designed with teachers in mind — because I’ve been there. I know what works, what doesn’t, and how valuable your time is.

About Me

Educational Background

I earned both my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education (with a minor in Psychology) and my Master of Arts in Education in Instructional Technology from Appalachian State University. Those years gave me the foundation for everything I do today: blending creativity with curriculum, technology with teaching, and heart with hard work.

Life Beyond the Classroom

I’ve been married to my husband, Tim Miller, since 1999. We have two amazing kids — our son, a Computer Science graduate beginning his career in tech, and our daughter, a talented high school senior planning to become a graphic designer. As a family, we love riding side by sides through the coal mining trails of West Virginia and spending time at the beach.

My Mission

Even though I’ve stepped out of the classroom, my heart will always belong there. Every resource I create is inspired by my love of teaching — and my mission is simple: to make your life as a teacher easier, your classroom more engaging, and your days a little less stressful.
