Around here, I have a few core beliefs:

I wholeheartedly believe:

The gist is this: you're an upper elementary teacher that needs well-designed and time-saving classroom resources... and I'm here to help you to do that like the rockstar teacher you are.

Hi there! My name is Kim Miller.

I am the teacher, author, and curriculum designer behind A Love of Teaching. I have a passion for helping teachers save time by creating meaningful and engaging classroom resources that make teaching and learning easier. I'm here to help you take back your afternoons and weekends while ensuring that you feel confident as a teacher.

How did this become my life?

In the summer of 2012, I was a 4th grade teacher trying to make ends meet for my family. #payteachersmore I was so tired of living everyday on a strict budget. I wanted to travel with my family, provide for my children, and if I’m being honest here… I desperately needed a new car. Either I had to find a summer job or live with the reality that this was the best I could do in life.  Isn’t it sad that teachers have to even consider a second job just to make ends meet?

As any teacher would do on a summer day off, I was searching for new ideas and classroom resources that I could use the following year with my new group of 4th graders. I came across a website called Teachers Pay Teachers and was blown away! I quickly noticed that the sellers on the site were everyday classroom teachers around the world sharing teaching resources they had created for their own classrooms. That’s when it hit me!

I could do this! I LOVE creating new teaching resources for my classroom!

My journey as a teacher-author began!

I immediately signed up as a basic seller and opened my online shop in the summer of 2012.

My store quickly became my after-work obsession.

Between a strong passion and ridiculous commitment to creating top-notch quality resources, my store took off! Eventually this website you’re on now was developed, a new online shop was added, and after 7 long years I became a curriculum designer full-time.

I quit my job as a classroom teacher after 18 years. Why would I do that?

First, I could no longer keep up with the demands that came with being a classroom teacher during the day along with the demands of being a curriculum designer at night. Second, the late hours working at night were weighing me down. I couldn’t be my best for my students each day, quality family time was non-existent, and I knew in my heart that I had to either quit teaching or close up shop. Third, I had invested too much time creating quality content for teachers. My buyers counted on me to continue creating top-notch and engaging classroom resources just to stop now.

I knew I could make a bigger impact by creating classroom resources that would benefit teachers and students all over the world.

Where am I at today?

So here I sit, (from home) creating curriculum aligned teaching resources for teachers to use in their classrooms everyday all around the world.

A love for teaching and a passion for creating combined into one!

Crazy, right?

Supporting teachers and creating quality classroom content is a passion of mine. My Teachers Pay Teachers store and this website store includes useful, budget-friendly, and time-saving classroom resources for upper elementary teachers in grades 3-5.  You can find tons of teaching resources for reading, math, science, social studies, character education, classroom décor, and so much more!
